Drywall Installation in Ocala and Marion County
New drywall in the Ocala area runs $2.00 to $3.50 per square foot, hung and finished. A single bedroom or home office job often lands between $900 and $2,400 all in, depending on ceiling height, the number of corners, and how smooth the walls need to be before paint.
We hang half-inch board on sixteen-inch centers for most living spaces, screw every stud by hand or with a screw gun, and finish the seams to a smooth surface ready for primer. Square footage, corner count, and board type (standard, moisture-resistant, or fire-rated) all move the number inside that range, and we put it in writing before any cutting starts.

What the Job Covers
A full installation starts with measuring the room and ordering board sized to cut down on waste. We hang the ceiling first when there is one, then the walls, cutting around outlets, switches, and window openings as we go. Every sheet gets screwed into the framing on a regular pattern so the wall holds its shape for years.
Once the board is up, we tape every seam, fill every screw dimple, and build corner bead on the outside corners. The room gets sanded smooth between coats so the final surface takes paint evenly.

How We Hang and Finish It
We screw sheets on sixteen-inch centers into wood or metal studs, keeping screws back far enough from the edge that the paper does not tear. Seams get paper or mesh tape and three coats of joint compound, each one sanded before the next goes on.
Inside corners get a hand-finished bead; outside corners get metal or vinyl corner bead screwed or glued into place before taping. The result is a flat wall that reads straight under light from a window or a lamp.
- Sixteen-inch screw spacing on studs
- Paper or mesh tape on every seam
- Three-coat finish, sanded between coats
- Corner bead on all outside corners

What Changes the Price
Ceiling height past eight feet adds board and labor. A room with a lot of corners, niches, or soffits takes longer to tape and finish than a plain rectangle. Moisture-resistant board for a bathroom or laundry room runs a bit more than standard board, and fire-rated Type X board for a garage wall shared with living space costs more too.
Access matters as well. A ground-floor room with a clear path in is faster to board than an upstairs bedroom reached by a narrow stairwell.
What to Expect
Most single rooms take two to four days from hanging to final sand, with drying time between coats built into that schedule. We clean up drywall dust and scrap at the end of each day, not just at the finish.
Before we leave, we walk the room with you under good light to check the finish. If you are painting right after, the surface is primer-ready when we go.
Questions
Most single rooms take two to four days, counting dry time between coats of joint compound. Larger rooms or whole-house jobs take longer.
If there is existing drywall, we price removal and disposal separately from the new installation. New construction or additions go straight to hanging.
Standard half-inch board for most rooms, moisture-resistant board for bathrooms and laundry areas, and fire-rated Type X where code calls for it, like a garage wall shared with living space.
