Soundproof and Acoustic Drywall in Ocala
Soundproofing a wall or ceiling adds $1.50 to $3.00 per square foot on top of a standard drywall installation. The number moves with how quiet you need the room โ a home office that just needs to cut down on hallway noise costs less to treat than a media room wall shared with a neighbor's bedroom.
We build sound control into the wall assembly itself, not just the drywall layer. That can mean double layers of board, resilient channel between the studs and the panel, acoustic sealant at every edge, or mineral wool insulation packed into the cavity. Which combination makes sense depends on what's on the other side of the wall and how much quiet you actually need.

Where Ocala Homeowners Use This
Home offices for video calls, nurseries next to a living room, media rooms, home gyms, and shared walls in duplexes or townhomes are the most common requests. We also get calls from homeowners finishing a garage into a music room or workshop who don't want the noise carrying into the house.

How We Build a Quieter Wall
A standard wall is one layer of half-inch board over studs with insulation, if any, as an afterthought. An acoustic wall starts with mineral wool or dense fiberglass insulation in every stud bay, resilient channel or clips to decouple the board from the framing, and often a second layer of drywall with acoustic sealant run along the perimeter and around every outlet box. Every gap we leave is a path for sound, so the sealant work matters as much as the board itself.

What Changes the Price
The $1.50 to $3.00 per square foot premium depends on how many layers of treatment the room needs. A single extra layer of board with insulation sits at the low end. A full assembly with resilient channel, double board, and acoustic caulk at every seam sits at the high end. We'll walk the wall with you, ask what's on the other side, and recommend a level that matches your budget and your actual noise problem.
What to Expect
Soundproofing work takes longer than a standard hang because of the extra layers and the sealant steps, so plan on a few extra days compared to a standard room. We'll give you a written quote that spells out exactly which materials go into the wall before we start.
Questions
No wall assembly blocks all sound, but a properly built acoustic wall cuts noise transfer dramatically โ enough that normal conversation or music on the other side becomes hard to hear. Full silence isn't realistic with any standard construction method.
Not always. A single layer with mineral wool insulation and acoustic sealant handles a lot of noise reduction on its own. Double layers with resilient channel are for rooms where you need the quietest result possible, like a home recording space.
Both. For existing walls, we can open one side, add insulation and resilient channel, then hang a new layer of board. New construction lets us build the full assembly from the studs out, which usually gives a better result for the same budget.
